Inequality still an issue

Have been reading a lot about racism,anti-racism,inequality,equity be it gender oriented, caste, class, career oriented,economically/socially/politically influenced is highly corelated to what has been conditionally passed on from generation after generation patternly. I am saying patternly because these prejudices and biases has improvised in gravity and intensity in with graph increase in present times. These terms have not had any deep cleansing in the mindset of the generations it has sustained survival. But in fact a jacket-changing from racism to apartheid, gender discrimination to misogyny, bigotry, wealth imbalance to crony capitalism etc. etc.

I recently read on this site a blog by one Mr Steve who expressed with his title that nothing has changed as anti-racism is becoming more racists because people are approached with caste segregation. Which is true. Anti-racism or inequality to combat at any level has little to do with policy but more with changing the mindset of people which is highly corrugated and corrupt. Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi,Dr.Ambedkar,Nelson Mandella,Martin King Luther,King Junior,Winnie Byanyima from UN,President from Sweden,Korea’s Sierra Leone etc. etc. have been fighting this monster since last more than 40 years and have been slilghtly successful are still struggling to dilute the prejudism to some degree.

In a country like India where I hail from misogyny, bigotry, caste discrimination, female foeticide,dowry/domestic sexual harassment and so on is harrowing. Ironically, we talk of digitalisation and technoloigcal upgradation, as development of human race. But the mental blocks of racism/discrimination still prevail in our day to day dealings be it professional, personl or social.

The recent progress on women empowerment leaded by UN to combat discrimination of wages for women, empowerment of women in every aspect of economical, social and political (which I had taken up a subject very dear to me as an activist) is rooted on the fact, that women who manage the house are/were never financially rewarded nor recognised as someone whose contribution towards her family, community and society as an extremely laudable gesture. But on the contrary as very unrewarding in terms of finance, recognition, as well as foundation of building a strong social fabric. Ignoring a woman is a creator and a nurturer. That is why the saying was coined “A hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.”

I recently read a blog by one Mr. Steve on this site, who expressed with his title, that nothing has changed, as anti-racism is becoming more racists. Matters of fact, people are becoming more caste oriented and their approach has initiated caste segregation. This is true. Anti-racism or inequality to combat at any level has little to do with policy but changing the mindset of people’s thinking. This is grossly conditioned from decades. Change of mindset is a slow and time consuming process. Brave courageous leaders all across the globe spent years and years in the prison, protesting, creating awareness risking their lives comforting us this breath of fresh air (to some extent) which we comfortably relish. Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Ambedkar, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther-King Junior, and the recent Winnie Byanyima from UN, President from Sweden, Korea’s Sierra Leone etc. etc. have been fighting this monster since last more than 40 years and have been slightly successful in diluting the prejudice to some degree. The present governance in the US is making efforts in this direction which looks very optimistic.

In a country like India (and many Asian countries) where I hail from misogyny, bigotry, caste discrimination, female feticide, dowry/domestic sexual harassment and so on is harrowing. Although we talk of digitalization, technological up gradation as a development of human race; but they are very superficial attitude our thinking has progressed. In reality we still adorn stone-age existence with decorative adjectives to manipulate our progress as “Humans”. Mental blocks of discrimination still prevail in our day to day dealings be it professional or personal or social.

The recent exercises/progress on women empowerment leaded by UN administration to combat discrimination(on international level) of wages for women, women empowerment in every aspect of economical, social and political (which I had taken up….is a subject very dear to me as an activist) is deeply rooted to the fact that women who manage the house are/were never financially rewarded nor recognized as someone whose contribution towards development of her family, community and society an extremely laudable noble gesture. Infact the state of affairs are still very unrewarding, unrecognized, unacknowledged financially as well as socially. Being a strong multi tasking individual she is proving as an asset on the professional front and hence the demand for fair and equal wage package. This also demands that in order to balance her domestic status on equal footing with men it should be mandatory for men to share the house hold chores or else compensate her financially. A woman is a Creator and a Nurturer. That is why the saying was coined “A hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.” This goes in a long way of garnering and respecting her as an individual, as a human and also as an important element of society building.

Racism also has to be tackled with individual approach, transform and behavioral transmission with the help of legal structures and policies (as an aid to monitor crimes). It has strong connotation with Capitalism. It will not happen instantly as Change is gradual.
